About Susan Giacobazzi
Susan brings a love of music, harmony, and community to her role as song leader for Tahoe Sisters in Harmony. She delights in singing with women from every musical background, whether they’ve been harmonizing for decades or are just working up the nerve to find out what their voice can do. Either way, she makes sure there’s a warm, welcoming spot waiting for them in the circle.
Susan grew up reading music, with years of choir, band, and musicals behind her. But somewhere along the way she fell hard for a different kind of music making: singing by ear, chasing a harmony by feel, rather than tracking it down the page. As she teaches songs and parts, she sprinkles in little tips and tricks to help each singer learn more about her own voice. Susan’s favorite moment? The surprise on a newcomer’s face the first time they hear the harmony lock into place all around them. It gets Susan every time.
Susan signed on for the music. What she didn’t see coming was all the friendship, laughter, and belly-deep joy that tagged along with it. For her, Tahoe Sisters in Harmony has always been about gathering with genuinely lovely humans, making something beautiful together, and remembering just how right it feels to open your mouth and sing.
About Tahoe Sisters in Harmony
Come sing with us! If singing brings you joy, then this group is for you. Our women’s singing circle is about connection and increasing our collective vibration. We sing together weekly, using a huge variety of songs that are easy to learn and sing. We teach with a call and response method, so no singing or music reading experience is required! We also keep experienced singers challenged with plenty of harmonies and descant parts.
We take pride in the array of songs we offer, primarily the type with harmonies that give you chills, and that keep you humming all week long. We started our group in Tahoe to sing, but also to create a community. Having a place to use our voices together, to learn songs together, reminds us that we “belong.” Tahoe Sisters in Harmony is a safe place to explore your own voice, to hear your own voice, and to claim your own voice!
You’ll find us together on Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. From September through May, we gather at The Yoga Room in Tahoe City (475 N Lake Blvd, upstairs in Cobblestone Center) and sing our way through 6 to 8 week series. Come summer, we take the harmonies outdoors, popping up at lovely spots around the North Tahoe Basin for drop-in sessions. So whether you’re settling in for a whole series or just catching us under the open sky, there’s always a place for your voice.
