About Carrie Fawcett
Carrie Fawcett, M.Mus. B.Ed., started taking singing lessons in her early teens. She studied Classical Vocal Performance at university, completing an Honours Bachelor of Music Degree and a Masters in Vocal Music Performance Degree. She sang with provincial youth choirs, the National Youth Choir, and as a soloist with local orchestras. In more recent years, she has explored community singing and took Heather Houston’s Sisters in Harmony Song Leader Training. Singing modern and traditional songs, in circle, in the oral tradition, and with Intention, is now an important part of her offerings, because this approach and repertoire is beautiful, accessible to so many people, adaptable, and potent as a tool for transformation.
Alongside and through her offering of singing, Carrie is a Ceremonialist, Certified Celebrant, and Sacred Circle Dancer Leader based in the Ottawa region. With a creative and credentialed background in the arts and education coupled with a desire to serve her community, her work involves co-creating with clients, personalized and meaningful ceremonies that support their growth and wellbeing.
Through working with Carrie, clients are supported in marking important transitions in life, from weddings and vow renewals, to memorials and funerals, to other rites of passage and earth-honouring events. Ceremony has been used since time immemorial as a very versatile and effective tool for our evolution.
About Ottawa Song Circle
The songs are taught in an easy to follow, call and repeat style. We use the oral tradition of singing, so we don’t use sheet music. No previous experience is necessary.
